Fusion Plasma
A collection of images inside my first IEC fusion device of a Deuterium Plasma undergoing nuclear fusion. The first images are are at lower accelerating potentials (ion temperature <5 keV) and higher pressure of Deuterium fuel. The characteristic emission spectrum of Deuterium is visible along with unique discharge characteristics of IEC devices. As the potential is raised, fusion reactions begin to increase at dramatic rate. Blackbody radiation emitted from the grid at high temperatures becomes the dominant radiation visible to the camera's sensor. These photos extend to 50 keV potential.
